A blog inspired by the tired Monday through Friday 8 to 5 employee, who finds a nice exotic escape through food, recipes, and great wine. Enjoy.

Inspiration

I need food inspiration people. What do I cook? Oh well I did have some adventures with roux this past weekend, it was very tasty and surpassed the satisfying mark of developed taste buds it was uber delicious!

It was my first time finishing the roux and by that I mean getting passed the peanut butter color it turns, it was mocha cafe rich brown…the darker the gravy the better. To make this awesomeness I used olive oil, flour, and a regular tea spoon.

Directions:
Heat 2 TBS. Olive oil on Medium heat
Add 2 Tsp flour
Keep adding flour by the teaspoon until it is pasty. This was about 7 Tsp.
And let it burn (Usher voice)

Season gravy or Add any poultry seasoned. The roux will take what ever flavor you want it to take and remember the darker the better

Helper to my Hamburger

Had a lazy night …made ol faithful Hamburger Helper ! Quite tasty too. I used one lb. of turkey meat, onions, minced garlic and seasoned to taste. Oh it was the lasagna one….idk it was $1.00 so I bought it and cooked it.

Gonna start my juicing soon….new recipes to come!

Day Light Savings

Yay its daylight savings time!!!

Amped carrot juice

Juice
4 carrots
1 Gala apple
1 lemon
1 large orange
1 small piece of fresh ginger

If you have a juicer add all these delicious ingredients, juice and serve. You can store juice in a tightly sealed container (I use mason jars) in the fridge… drink within 24 hours or freeze. If you decide to freeze then allow to thaw properly in the refrigerator.

So when I first made this I was like uh oh oh my gosh this is so damn good. I could not believe how sweet and tangy and it was. The lemon makes this drink refreshing while the ginger adds nice warmth to the drink. Overall, I’m totally considering making a red Kool-Aid pitcher full… yes I said red Kool-Aid and if you don’t know about that ask somebody…. OK! :-)
